Amazon Basin cigar is back! The most unique cigar from CAO, the Amazon Basin Toro is coming back to Mike's Cigars.
The Amazon Basin production process is so complicated that it takes three years in the making for each new release, but General Cigar Co. assured us that they are using the same exact blend as the original release...
The CAO Amazon Basin is a ground breaking project by the General Cigar Corp. Looking for a new and un-discovered tobacco, scouts of the giant tobacco conglomerate found an exotic tobacco deep in the Amazon rainforest. The Amazon Basin indians were growing is tobacco in the jungle for generations. This tobacco is called "Braganca" and it goes through a very different cultivation fermentation process than all other cigars. Due to its rarity and the fact tthat it is harvested only ONCE every three years, only 2000 boxes were made.
Introduced in 2014 at the IPCPR Annual cigar show, The CAO Amazon Basin was the talk of the shaw. The CAO Amazon Basin is made of very unique and hard to find tobacco grown in the Amazon Rain Forest and harvested just once every three years. Unlike traditional tobacco plantations where the plants are arranged in neat rows, these seeds which are actually planted in the midst of the rainforest, are expertly grown wherever there is available sunlight. Once harvested, the leaves are rolled by hand into tubes called carottes and undergo six months of natural fermentation, a technique similar to that of Andullo tobacco. Once fermented, it takes four to six weeks to get them from forest to factory, a process that involves being hand carried to the river, put into canoes and rowed to the mainland, then driven to the port and shipped to Nicaragua where they are made.
The CAO Amazon Basin comes in two sizes, a Toro of 6" by 52 ring and a Robusto 5x50. under the name CAO FUMA EM CORDA (available to order only by our call center 800-962-4427)
With a dark, oily, rosado wrapper silky smooth to the touch and the ring itself is far off from your regular cigar paper band. Designed after the old Amazon-indian technique, the band is made up of a coil of twisted tobacco wrapped around the cigar four times just down the tip and you can smoke right through the coils. The flavor is unique and refreshing with strong notes of rainforest sap, peanutty cocoa and spicy raisins.
