SUMMER DEAL DAYS

I received a letter from one of our customers the other day. “Dear friends at Mike’s Cigars”, the letter read, “I would like to tell you about my last trip to Cancun, which I just came back from. Actually, my family and I spent most of our time in the more remote locations of the Riviera Maya, which spreads south from Cancun, down the eastern coast of the Yucatan peninsula. The beaches there are pristine and untouched but moreover, the area is dotted with wild and breathtaking Eco-Parks which are actually tropical oases, where natural springs come up to the surface. The cool, fresh, water creates lush, rainforest-type growth around the green-aqua pools downstream, with all kinds of gentle waterfalls and amazing underwater flora and fauna. Beside the colorful fish underneath, we witnessed the vibrant wildlife on top. The canopy overhead teemed with an array of birds of all shapes and sounds, their calls mixed with those of the monkeys roaming above.

That’s where my problem started. We were driving around in that rental, VW ‘Beetle’ when we had to make a stop, for the call of nature, somewhere in the woods. With the urge to go, we did not notice the troop of Capuchins on the surrounding trees, but as soon as we opened the car doors, one little monkey came right in, hopped into the back seat and started looking for something to eat. My children in the back were awe-struck as this little creature was going over every nook and cranny, and then escalated into digging into their pockets, where it promptly found some candies. In a flash I realized that I am missing my wallet and I started frantically looking for it all over, shouting to my wife to roll-up the windows, lest the animal escapes with my credit cards. But the monkey had other ideas. Before we managed to seal the enclosure he yanked my box of cigars from the backpack on the floor and jumped outside, grabbing the treasure with one of his four hands as he climbed quickly to join his peers who celebrated the turn of events with joyful screams. I was happy when I found my wallet under my seat but I knew that I will never see that box of Licenciados again”.

Reading this story, and other stories like this which we constantly receive, we decided to ask all our customers to join in, and send us your cigar story, (you can include a photo), anecdote, or interesting experience you had while going through your normal cigar aficionado life.
