The big blizzard of 2010 left many of us stranded in airports and faraway places all over the Northeast and Midwest. People got stuck at home, at work and in train stations in between. If you still have 20 inches of snow to shovel outside, if your car is buried and you can’t even say where, relax, enjoy a good cigar sampler and by tomorrow everything will be so much better.
Our first pick is Romeo Y Julieta Vintage No. IV Churchill (7 x 48). Another classic line of fine cigars from Romeo Y Julieta. This is the second non Cuban blend to come out of the Dominican Republic. It has a Smooth blend, but the cigar is very complex and has different aromas and flavor changes over the course of the smoke. This Mild to Medium cigar has a Dominican filler, Mexican binder and Cameroon Connecticut Ecuadorian wrapper.
The second pick is Saint Luis Rey Churchill (7 x 52) This cigar has full flavor and aroma through a unique blend of Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian long filler tobaccos, a Nicaraguan binder and a dark, rich Nicaraguan or San Andrés Morrón wrapper. It is a bold and full flavored smoke with rich aroma of Cuban coffee, with creamy, smooth nutty, notes.
Third pick is Excalibur I (7 1/4 x 54) The best cigar made in Honduras. Period. This cigar is so good, full of flavors and at the same time, without any appreciable "bite" that always comes with "full body" cigars. Excalibur cigars are the choicest cigars picked from the renowned HOYO DE MONTERREY line. Additional aging guarantees super-quality smoke. Whether you choose the silky-smooth Connecticut shade wrapper or the dark, mellow broadleaf wrapper, you are sure to enjoy a pleasing, and refined smoke.
Bolivar Cofradia No. 1 Churchill (7 x 42) is our fourth pick. This full-bodied cigar is intoxicating with its decadent flavors, heady aroma, and intense finish. Packed in heavy Spanish Cedar cabinets, it is a cigar crafted for the most experienced of connoisseurs.
Last pick is Licenciados Churchill (7 x 50) Licenciados proved to be the pioneer brand which paved the way to many other Dominican made cigars on the road to stardom and recognition by the media, and the lime lights were no longer the domain of the Castro industry only. Licenciados is adding more power and taste of roasted peanuts sweetened with notes of burned brown sugar, cocoa and long finish.
