As remnants of Tropical storm Emily moved out to the open ocean a big sigh of relief was loud and clear at Mike’s Cigars. The last thing we need is another hurricane. We were watching Emily last week as it continued to chug through the Caribbean isles and hurricane forecasters struggled to get an accurate read on how much it will intensify and where it will go. The National Hurricane Center forecast showed Emily passing to the east of Florida as a tropical storm last weekend and we were getting ready to be hit. Thank G-d this storm is gone. Now we can celebrate with a great cigar sampler.

Our first cigar as we hit land is Romeo y Julieta Churchill (7 x 50) It is always consistent and spicy to the core this slow burn treasure is crisp and creamy with hints of dark coffee and cream.

Second cigar is Montecristo White Toro (6 x 54) - a deliciously fragrant smoke with silky soft golden skin, creamy flavors and succulent with honey notes of glazed almonds.

Our third cigar is Romeo Y Julieta Reserve Maduro Toro (6 x 50) Darkly rich, the mystique of the Romeo y Julieta Reserve Maduro matches the dark romance in its tragic Shakespearean namesake. Exquisitely blended with a harmony of Dominican, Nicaraguan and Peruvian filler, with a Nicaraguan binder and an oily Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper, this medium to full-bodied smoke captures the essence and depth of the romantic tragedy, and holds a sensually aromatic taste.

Number 4 is Montecristo Double Corona (6 1/4 x 50). The massive Montecristo is an awesome smoke with sweet nutty flavors, golden skin and rich tastes of slightly roasted coffee beans with a smooth finish.

The last pick is Romeo Y Julieta Vintage No. VII (6 x 50). Another classic line of fine cigars from Romeo Y Julieta. This is the second non Cuban blend to come out of the Dominican Republic. It has a Smooth blend, but the cigar is very complex and has different aromas and flavor changes over the course of the smoke. This Mild to Medium cigar has a Dominican filler, Mexican binder and Cameroon Connecticut Ecuadorian wrapper.
