In late July Erik Weihenmayer & Jeff Evans topped the highest mountain peak on earth. The exceptional fact about the duo is that Erik is legally blind, yet he made the 29,035 feet to the top, like the best of them. "We were quickly running low on our oxygen supply and had to make sure we'd have enough to get back down the mountain. Neither of us had ever summited Everest, and it was a dream we were going to keep pushing each other to achieve" recalls Erik. We’d like to toast the achievement with a good cigar. Actually a whole sampler is even better.

We start with Oliva Serie O Double Toro (6 x 60). A true Nicaraguan Puro. This unique blend is achieved by growing the same Cuban-seed Habano in different regions of northern Nicaragua. The wrapper and binder are also Cuban-seed Habano.

The 2nd pick is Montecristo Churchill (7 x 50) This medium body cigar delivers rich taste with silky notes of roasted almonds and sweet coconuts, in such a delicious harmony you can feel the taste in your palate and on your lips long after you finished the smoke. No doubt here, the Montecristo is unbelievable product of perfection.

Next is CAO Gold Label Corona Gorda (6 1/2 x 50) The CAO Gold is made from premium Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, bound in top of the line Nicaraguan binder, and a rich Ecuadorian wrapper. This mild to medium-bodied cigar is more than a smoke, it's a mellowing, nourishing experience for the mind, body and soul.

We continue with Alec Bradley Prensado Churchill (7 x 48). This cigar was built around a new wrapper, the Corojo dos mil, seis (Corojo 2006). The wrapper was grown in late 2006 on the farm in Trojes Honduras and was in fermentation and aging through mid 2008. Allen Rubin and the folks from the AB Corp. started smoking and learning about the nuances of this wrapper in July 2008 and worked on this blend for over six months.

The La Flor del Caney Churchill (7 1/2 x 50) concludes this sampler. This high octane smoke is rich but smooth with notes of roasted nuts and butterscotch with a sweet finish. It makes for an outstanding end to a great voyage!
