Orlando Alzugaray aka “Big O” is not only a big radio persona; he is also a big cigar lover who is well known to fellow cigar lovers all over South Florida. Orlando is among the few that really understand the cigar industry and enjoys sharing his knowledge with his listeners on 640 Sports Radio. We asked Orlando to make a list of some of his favorite full body smokes and this is what he came up with.
Oliva Master Blends 3 Robusto (5 x 50) This is the third time that the Oliva family is able to harvest an extraordinary tobacco crops allowing the production of a very special issue of cigars which do not come every year.
Cain Daytona 646 (6 x 46) The Oliva family made a great choice in releasing this new blend of the Cain. It's not as strong, but just as flavorful. You can smoke this one on an empty stomach. That's a big plus for cigars known for their strength. The secret in the Cain Daytona is the Cuban-seed, long leaf ligeros from Jalapa valley. They are silky smooth, yet, full of flavor, with excellent balance.
E.P. Carrillo Encantos (4 7/8 x 50) features an Ecuadorian wrapper, a spicy aroma and a mouth-filling medium to full body. There’s a clear caramelized note from the start, with a pleasant spicy note popping up as the blend opens up. It is well-blended, well-balanced, relaxed and friendly cigar that’s easy to enjoy.
Tempus by Alec Bradley Centuria (7 x 49) This Alec Bradley is rich in flavor and smooth in character. It is made from a combination of Honduran Criollo 1998 wrapper blended with Corojo and Criollo filler from the Trojes region of Honduras, just north of the Nicaraguan border.
CAO LX2 Robusto (5 x 52) The CAO LX2 was created by CAO in 2008, the LX2 line of cigars represents the third and final installment in CAO’s “X-series” cigars. Following on the successes of the MX2 and CX2 cigars, the LX2 may be CAO’s strongest cigar. The LX2 is packed inside a smooth, oily Nicaraguan sun-grown wrapper selected for its great strength and flavors you will find a truly unusual filler blend. Composed of three, yes three, different ligero leaves from CAO’s Pueblo Neuvo farm in Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic’s best growing region, the LX2 cigar boasts a super rich, strong smoke.
