Arturo Fuente cigars represent the culmination of four generations of the cigar makers. Don Arturo Fuente began making cigars in the late 1800’s in Cuba. Having perfected his art, Don Arturo left Cuba and moved to Ybor City, Florida (now part of Tampa). Here, Don Arturo began making cigars in the back of his home and the Arturo Fuente cigar legacy began. Teaching his son, Carlos Sr., Don Arturo ensured his skills and talents with tobacco were continued for generations to come. Today, Arturo Fuente cigars are being made by Don Arturo’s son, Don Carlos Sr. and his own son, Carlos Jr. at Tabacalera A. Fuente in the Dominican Republic. The Arturo Fuente cigars come in a wide variety of wrappers. Whether you prefer the spicy richness of the Cameroon leaf or the smooth fullness of the U.S. Connecticut Broadleaf the Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva line has a cigar for you. The higher grade of Arturo Fuente Chateau cigars feature an Ecuadorian sun-grown Connecticut seed wrapper or a U.S. Connecticut Broadleaf maduro.
To make it easy for every cigar lover, we are presenting below the whole spectrum of Fuente production line. divided according to the wrapper leaf of each sub-division. This way, you can appreciate the richness of the Fuente out-put, and how different is each front-mark, according to their ingredients, from other Fuente cigars. It is simply amazing!
ARTURO FUENTE – CAMEROON
The Camerron wrapper cigars are usually heavier bodied than their Connecticut counterparts. The line consists of Fuente old-time classics such as 8-5-8 and Churchill, with interesting variations into the more affordable, mixed and short fillers at the low end. All the cigars in this header are typical, no-nonsense Fuente strongholds and provide ultimate value.
Unlike the famous African wrapper leaf, the Connecticut sub-species is a nicely mellow, easy going character. As it is grown mostly under the cheese cloth, it absorbs less sun rays and provides smooth, creamy flavors, preferred by younger aficionados as well as early morning smokers, together with their breakfast coffee. There are only three entries here but each one is a real “heavy weight” among cigar lovers.
ARTURO FUENTE - MADURO
This category is actually a melange’ of all representatives from other Fuente lines, combined together, solely because they are coated with the mature, spicy-sweet and delicate skin, we call Maduro. You can find here cigar members from the Cameroon sub-division, together with some of their Conecticut brethren since they all share the same virtue of wearing the well-liked dark-chocolate coating.
ARTURO FUENTE - CLARO
The antithesis of the Maduro, the green – claro cigars are remnants of the roaring thirties, when the Ameican consumer preferred the semi-ripened tobacco leaves for their cigar wrapper. Today, just a few manufacturers still roll claro cigars but the Fuente offshoot still commands a very strong following. In this line, you’ll find only four names, but it is by far the strongest and most complex in the Claro cosmos.
ARTURO FUENTE - SUN GROWN
This “special line” is a result of a unique project out of Carlito Fuente “skunk works” laboratory, where, just like in the mythological Lockheed-Martin aviation Corp. , a number of industry legends, such as the opusx were born. The constant striving for perfection, together with the creative minds in the Fuente dynasty came through in the development of yet another milestone in their product line. Each time, when a new SUN GROWN shipment comes in, a cigar craze ensues and we end up working over-time until we run out. Good luck.
LAST, but not least, is our favorite, the old, royal, DON CARLOS. Named after the old man, Carlos FUENTE Sr. this blend used to make a personal cigar, made just for his own private consumption. In 1990, after enough friends spread the word around, and in a special gesture to the family patriarch, the cigar became commercialized and today we can all enjoy a great stogie, that was once exclusive to the royalty.
