During the golden age of cigars, when Altadis Corp. – the company were Montecristo, H. Upmann and Romeo are made – was still privately held, it belonged to the fragrance tycoon Ronald Perelman. A special cigar was made, personally blended for him. About 15 years ago, at the midst of the cigar boom, the company decided to make that super-high-grade cigar public, creating the H. Upmann Chairman’s Reserve. The cigar is unbelievably flavorful, featuring long aged blend of long filler tobaccos from Mexico and the Dominican Republic, a slightly spicy Indonesian binder and a golden, silky USA Connecticut shade wrapper. The flawless construction accompanied by the medium-bodied, creamy smooth flavors with woodsy notes of cedar and nuts makes for one the best cigars in the market till this day.
