In 1959 Fidel Castro sent his troops to cigar factories all over the island nation. When they came in they told the disbelieving owners: “This factory is hereby no longer belongs to you, it is the property of the Cuban people”. From that day everything changed. At first, the shocked victims refused to accept the new reality. Some said that it must be only temporary and things will go back to normal in short order. Others believed that American and international pressure would soon prevail and rightful ownership will be reinstated. But the sad fact was there to stay: Castro confiscated the entire Cuban cigar industry. On February 3, 1962, president Kennedy signed the Cuban Embargo Act. This winter we will mark 45 years since the last time Cuban cigars came legally into this country. Cuban exiles are still dreaming about going back home and smoking the good old brands and this was the sentiment behind the creation of The Genuine Cuban Counterfeit and The Genuine Pre-Embargo Counterfeit cigars. While the Pre-Embargo brand come In Fifty Count cabinets, the ‘regular’ Cuban Counterfeits are packed 25 in a box, otherwise they are pretty much the same, i.e. very good cigars, made by Perdomo, and like any other Perdomo cigar, they bear the top quality mark and the superb full flavor Perdomo knows how to achieve. Above all, they bear unbelievably low price tag which we are proud to reduce even further for the duration of this email special.
Genuine Cuban Counterfeit This square-pressed brand was launched in 2000 by the Tabacalera Perdomo. Each cigar has an Ecuadorian Rosado wrapper with a medium-to-full-bodied taste. It is box-pressed and offered in 25s.
